European Commissioner visits Robert Emmet CDP
Robert
Emmet CDP was privileged to receive a visit from European Commissioner for
Social Cohesion and Reform, Elisa Ferriera, yesterday. Commissioner Ferreira
was visiting Ireland to sign off on €1.4 billion cohesion funding to be
provided to Ireland by the Commission for the period 2021 – 2027.
Robert
Emmet CDP are a recipient of cohesion funding through SICAP and were delighted
to be one of few projects nominated nationally for a visit from the
Commissioner by SICAP implementers Pobal.
Robert
Emmet CDP strives to maximize social value in all development processes- and
provide equitable access to these processes for community members- to ensure
that development is appropriate, equitable and in the best interest of the
communities it touches.
We
deliver on this through the operation of social enterprises, facilitation of
Oliver Bond Regeneration Forum and support of local residents groups in
deliberative processes. We also endeavour to enfuse these values through our
core charitable programmes so that every element of our operation can support
the growth of empowered and resilient communities in the South West Inner City.
It was
positive to have an opportunity to showcase our work to the Commissioner,
commission delegates, senior Department of Public Expenditure &
Reform staff and Pobal and to give a platform to the resilient and
empowered community we have the consistent privilege of supporting and
representing.
Many
thanks to The
Fumbally Café for providing lunch, Mendicity
Institution / Hard Ground Coffee for the teas and
coffees and to Tara McGuinness for making the place look beautiful.
Many
thanks to South
Inner City Community Development Association (SICCDA) as
ever for partnering on the morning and ensuring the Commissioner received as
comprehensive an experience of The Liberties as is possible in three hours!
