‘Neighbourhood Urban Ranking’ and ‘Trees per Resident’ maps
‘Neighbourhood Urban Ranking’ and ‘Trees per Resident’ maps recently produced by UCD Department of Geography show that Dublin 8 has a disproportionate relationship between population density, traffic flow and tree cover.
Worryingly, but unsurprisingly, there appears to be a strong correlation between access to green space and wealth across all of Dublin- wealthier parts of Dublin have more access to trees and green areas than less wealthy parts.
A data building project, managed by UCD Department of Geography in partnership with Connect the dots and artist Seodin O’ Sullivan, requires additional data to more effectively inform future policy and the provision of adequate green space for people living in Dublin 8.
